Fruits Tree

The cherries are relished the world over and its tree is one of the most easily maintained tree. The word Cherry is derived from the name of an ancient city in Turkey. The word cherry refers to the tree as well as the fruit. A cherry fruit is known as “drupe”. It is a sweet small red color and has a single hard core in the middle.

There are different varieties of cherries available in the market.

The two main groups of Cherries are Wild Cherries which were first found in Europe and Western Asia are used for eating as a fruit. The cherries available in the market today are all wild cherries. The other types of cherries are the sour cherries which also were from Europe and Western Asia. The sour cherries are mostly used for cooking like making Jams and Jellies and they are not used for eating.

The cherry tree is not only popular for their fruits but they also have very beautiful flowers. The flowers which appear in the spring have inspired many song writers to write songs or poems on it. There are many songs written on the cherry flowers.

If you have the place and are interested in planting a cherry tree you would want to consider planting the black cherries as they are the tallest trees and they produce the beautiful white flowers on them. The fruit, which are ready to be picked in summer, are small and black in color. The disadvantages of the tree that it is vulnerable to caterpillars and the fruits can fall on their own and stain the concrete underneath. Therefore if you are planning a cherry tree you are advised to plant them over the grass rather than close to the side walk.

The larger types of cherries known as Plum also is a beautiful tree which is a purple leaved. It has purple flowers which can seem very beautiful and the color usually changes form purple to light pink. This plant is particular resistant to pest and the tree is so colorful that they look very beautiful.

The other tree named Amur Chokeberry is the one with the golden bark on the trunk and branches. The flowers of the tree are small and white. The tree requires a moist and well drained soil and if you do not have the same in your backyard you may want to not plant this tree. The tree is more prone to diseases and pests unless the climate is very cold. The high maintenance tree gives the most delicious cherries and flowers.

Whatever your soil condition, you will find a cherry tree which will survive in your backyard or your garden. The best place to find the cherry tree which will do well in your area, will be to visit a nursery and find out.

If you stay around a countryside and you have lots of space around your house. You can consider planting an orchard. Basically, planting a orchard seems a big task but it is a very simple project and all it takes is commitment.

If you are a novice, and have never planted a tree on your land, you will not be keen on wasting your time and money on buying and planting many trees. When you start, start with a single tree and plant and see it successfully grow into an adult tree. Once you get the confidence you can try your hand at multiple trees. The trees should be planted, only if you can take care of them and it should not be too much that you are unable to care for them.

Mostly, if you are used to one type of tree you would want to plant all the same kind as this becomes easy for you to handle and you know about the tree and how much water and what nutrients to be used. But if you use different types of tree then all the different trees have specific needs and in case you are unable to take care of them they will not grow well.

If you have tree in your backyard which you have seen it grow from its childhood, then you probably are aware of the soil acceptable for that type of tree and also what it requires to grow. It becomes easier to maintain and grow more trees of similar types. You can take care of the pests and any other problems during growing up.

An orchard is the row of trees planted, then pruned to be in a shape. The shape is either known as the fan or an espalier shape. The shapes are compact and allow more trees to grow in a small area.

Only if you love trees and have a passion for them then you can think of starting an orchard and it should not be a capitalistic investment.
